It’s pattern has to be nearly perfect for the beautiful design to hold together. Each strand is interlinking another, making the network of protein functional and capable of cooperation as a unit. If you pull a single strand from the web, it’s entangled peers will follow. Imagine if a butterfly innocently and gently collided with the spider’s work of art. It would not effect only the strands on which it landed. It would twist and writhe, causing the whole web to become disjointed, eventually adjusting to take on the weight and strength of the butterfly.
